African American Quilt Documentation Day in Washington, D.C.

Quilt Documentation Day From 10 am to 4 pm, join us in the Great Hall to celebrate, preserve, and explore local quilting history. The African American Quilt Documentation Study Group will document your family quilt, creating a permanent record that helps historians and researchers better understand its social and cultural significance. Bring in your family quilt, regardless of condition, to be examined, photographed, and recorded in the national African American Quilt Registry. Free; advance registration is required. Threads of Freedom Exhibition Opening

Opening reception for 'Threads of Freedom,' a traveling exhibition featuring 45 quilts from the AAQDSG permanent collection alongside oral history recordings and archival photographs. Exhibition runs through March 2027.
